Commonly made with Bratwurst, but also with Bockwurst at times.
Ingredients
500g Sloane's Bratwurst
1 Onion, finely chopped
1 tbsp curry powder
1 tbsp. hot paprika
1 tsp mustard powder
1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes
60g brown sugar
40g Cider vinegar
Salt & Pepper
Methods
- Heat a little oil in a saucepan over medium heat and add 1add the diced onion. Cook slowly until soft, about 10 minutes.
- Add the curry powder. mustard and paprika; cook for 1 minute more being careful not to burn the spices.
- Add the can of tomatoes to the pan followed by the sugar and vinegar. Increase the heat and bring it to a boil.
- Reduce the heat so the sauce simmers and cook until thickened, stirring occasionally. This will take about 20 minutes.
- Cook the sausages until lightly browned and slice into rounds. Add the Currywurst sauce and sprinkle with extra curry powder. Serve with fries….and a large german beer!
